Our Favorite Hostels In Western Europe

Yes! Hostels: Lisbon, Portugal

Credit: Yes! Hostels

First one on our list is Yes! Lisbon since it holds a very special place in our hearts. This home away from home has all the attributes of the “perfect” hostel: great location, incredibly friendly staff, clean & comfy rooms, clean & cozy rooms, low price, and (most importantly) a bar that is set on fire every weekend before free shots! The hostel even provides community dinners every night and weekend bar crawls, which is a great way to meet and bond with your fellow travelers.

This hostel boasts easy accessibility to the nearby Firenze Santa Maria Novella train station. Walking into this hostel is like walking into your own personal mini cathedral. The main lobby sports unconventional artwork that would make even Michelangelo proud. With beautifully designed rooms and bathrooms, along with the open outdoor spaces and building architecture, this Florence hostel makes it all the way up to number two on our list.

Steel House Hostel: Copenhagen, Denmark

Hostel with a full gym, industrial-chic design, indoor swimming pool, and a games room? Count us in! Coming in to take the third spot in our list is the Steel House Hostel, which feels like staying at an upscale hotel. No matter what type of room you book, you will have access to that sweet, sweet, en-suite bathroom. Just don’t forget to make use of the free yoga classes after your daily workout at the gym to stay nice and nimble enough to ride your bike all day around in town!

There are plenty of common areas at this establishment to meet your next travel buddy to explore the nearby plazas and all the bodegas and bars they have to offer!

St. Briavels Hostel: Gloucestershire, England

A bit of a wildcard, as far as this list is concerned, is the St. Briavels Hostel in Gloucestershire, which gives us twenty first century peasants an opportunity to stay like royalty at a genuine medieval castle. Complete with flickering candles, banquet hall, archery range, and even a moat, (to name a few things) this hostel has more than enough for us to want to stay.
